A ten years after becoming granted asylum in Sweden, 19-yr-outdated Tousin Chiza is symbolizing his adopted place at the Eurovision Music Contest in Rotterdam subsequent week.
Tousin – or Tusse, as he is recognised in Sweden – was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He fled to a refugee camp in Uganda aged 5 with his aunt, siblings and cousins, and lived there for 3 a long time until finally moving to Sweden aged eight.
“It truly is a large honour for me,” he tells Radio 1 Newsbeat. “It truly is like the most significant thank you I can give.”
